Undergraduate U.S. science students majoring in physics, materials science, engineering, computer science, chemistry or mathematics may apply to work with researchers at the NIST. The SURF program runs between the end of May through the beginning of August or the beginning of June through the beginning of August, and students receive a $5,500 stipend. Limited nine-week fellowships are also available. Students may participate in one of the six NIST labs: Material Measurement, Physical Measurement, Engineering, Information Technology, Nanoscale Science and Technology, and the Center for Neutron Research. Nominations must be made by Lehigh.
